Nawal El Saadawi changed my heart, impacted me on a level that cant even find words. Captivating, a rebel and downright genius. Nawal has several books all of which are powerful and riveting why did I not put them here? Well, its too vast. "Woman at Point Zero" is world renowned, but I couldnt feel comfortable adding one tiny excerpt. It would have been pages. So when I seen this video interview, it hit me hard. Creativity and Dissidence. That is what I felt I got from this interview.In some strange odd way Nawal will put together two things that dont seem relevant and relate them. Intelligent, political, sincere, riveting, poignant, and downright " dangerous". Shes straightway dangerous!! When Nawal was imprisonned, the guards came to search her cell. She explained that it looked like they were searching for weapons. The guard replied,"We seek your pen and paper thats worse than a gun" Oh how I love and admire Nawal El Saadawi. This video is her understanding of creativity and dissidence, they go together or we are not free. Carefully consider these words. Nawals says " You do not know you are not free , until they take it" They took Nawal's freedom and she is still genuinely herself and is full of opinions that I happen to agree with.
